INTRODUCTION
The achievements of women in male-dominated industries are a testament to resilience, courage, and leadership. To shine a global spotlight on these trailblazers, the “Female Entrepreneurs in Male-Dominated Industries (FEMDI)” initiative is being launched under the African Women in Leadership Organisation (AWLO). This initiative will identify and celebrate women excelling in specific industries monthly, aligning with AWLO’s AWAKE initiative to awaken leadership potentials and foster inclusivity.
FEMDI will be implemented collaboratively across all AWLO chapters, with each chapter tasked with identifying women excelling in the chosen industry for the month. These stories and profiles will then be consolidated, merged, and shared as a unified global celebration on AWLO platforms, with all chapters amplifying the shared content.

Activities
Here are some activities that align with our objectives for the “Female Entrepreneurs in Male-Dominated Industries” event:
Monthly Industry Selection
A specific industry (e.g., electricians, welders, mechanics etc) will be selected each month for global focus. AWLO chapters will fish out and submit profiles of outstanding women in the selected field.
Profile Compilation & Storytelling
Submitted profiles and stories from all chapters will be reviewed and merged into a cohesive narrative. The consolidated stories will be shared globally on AWLO’s platforms for uniform amplification.
Global Promotion & Advocacy
AWLO will distribute the merged profiles and stories to all chapters for synchronized sharing on their platforms. Use the initiative to advocate for gender inclusivity, leadership, and empowerment.
Mentorship & Impact
Establish mentorship opportunities by connecting celebrated FEMDI participants with aspiring young women.
Workflow and Responsibilities
