On January 15th 2022, Africa Women Leadership Organisation (AWLO) hosted the AWLO PATRONS OPEN YEAR BALL 2022. The event was exclusive to AWLO Patrons, Development Partners and Distinguished guests and approximately 60 people were in attendance. During the event patrons were given the opportunity to introduce themselves and share their experiences in AWLO and give a brief overview of the roles and contributions that they have made to AWLO over the years.
Dr Elisha Attai, Founder and Executive Director of AWLO; NannehKemte-Giadom,SG were on hand to open the event, receive and acknowledge the dignitaries. The opening prayer was officiated by Rev. Grace Aiyeodogbon. Her ExecellencyAlangyingi Sylva presented the welcome address, where she honored Dr Elisha Attai on his outstanding achievements, commitment, and dedication to AWLO and her members. Her Excellency Chief Dr Jewel Howard- Taylor, Vice President of Liberia and AWLO Board Chairperson presented the chairman’s address, where she iterated the standing and credibility and the growth of AWLO in Liberia, she was accompanied by the minister of health and 12 other dignitaries and members of AWLO from Liberia.
The keynote speaker was, Her Excellency HajiyaRamatu Tijani Aliyu, Minister of State for the Federal Republic of Nigeria. She spoke about a variety of issues and challenges that women face in leadership and how proud and honored she was to be given the opportunity and the privilege to address members of AWLO an organization of great significance in making a difference to the lives of women in Nigeria and Globally. H.E honorable Ramatu was decorated and presented as An AWLO LIFETIME PATRON, by H.E Chief Dr Jewel Howard. A pre birthday celebration was held in honor of H.E Chief Jewel Howard, who turns 59 on January 17th.
Hajia Mariam Salihu Ibrahim, Chairperson Nigeria Women for Gas and her assistant Laila Adji, presented to the patrons and members, opportunities on how women in leadership and communities at large could be active in the area of Gas, emphasizing that value chains can be developed and implemented by creating cooperatives into order to enhance sustainability and empowerment of women.
In Summary the event was a success and concluded on a high and positive note, with the theme and strategy #Sustainable Impact 2022 officially being launched.
